Messages to Carry with You

Towards the end of 2023, Hopelessly Yellow set up a table that featured a “Take One, Leave One” bowl. The idea was that everyone who came up to the table could write a note that they would want someone to read, fold it, put it in the bowl, and take one for themselves. However, we ended with a disproportionate number of notes left over, since some people wrote multiple and only took one. This article is comprised of not only my words, but also the words of 25 other people who are cheering you on!

How Super Mario Saved My Semester

No one prepared me for how difficult it would be to go from living in the dorms to living in an apartment. In the dorm, I knew everyone— those of you who lived in South Quad are probably thinking, “What?? How is that possible? You must have only ever gone to dorm parties.” Well, my friend group could throw a hell of a dorm party (imagine a clothing swap party where guys ended up in bikini tops and girls looked like they were trying to start a new trend: oversized suits), and I knew everyone beca

This, Too, Shall Pass

It is strange how great of a role anxiety has played in my life. I have never taken the time to examine the impact it has had until I sat down to write this. Tarot by a Catholic Girl

Placed on the table before me was The World: “She looks beyond to the past, while the body moves into the future.” Next, The Fool: “Unlimited potential and a lack of commitment,” closely followed by The Lovers and the Wheel of Fortune and the 9 of Swords. One of my best friends, Tobi, lays card after card in front of me and then proceeds to read from her notebook the many possible meanings of each. She points to the 8 of Swords, a slightly disturbing card, since the image shows a woman bound. Af

The Ancient Greek Perspective of Love — Hopelessly Yellow

I was recently asked if I believed in soulmates. What an ironic time to be asked that question, as the first year of college is a time of encountering many new people and building all kinds of new relationships. My response was, “I think it depends”—a desperate attempt to avoid giving an actual answer. However, this question inspired me to look into the idea of soulmates and to begin investigating the ways in which I have fallen in love with people throughout my own life.
